The medium uses a resistive memory technology with inherently fast performance qualities. With NAND, a cell must be erased before it can be written to, and movement of electrons through inhibiting insulation and onto a ﬂoating metal gate can make programming slow. The controller simply sets or resets the material, making it much faster than NAND.
